Carlisle United’s made an exit of the FA Cup in the 4th Round to Premier League Everton.
Everton won 3-0 at Carlisle’s reopened Brunton Park and a sell out 17,101 Arouna Kone, Aaron Lennon and Ross Barkley scored as Everton progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable victory at Carlisle.
Everton took the lead inside two minutes when a ball from Tom Cleverley released Lennon down the right and he crossed low for AROUNA KONE to tap in.
Carlisle stayed in the game and Derek Asamoah almost equalized before AARON LENNON effectively ended hopes of an upset when he received Bryan Oviedo’s centre and squeezed in an angled shot.
Later on ROSS BARKLEY’S deflected long-range effort capped an assured display.
Everton won the FA Cup in 1995 and take on our N&R Road to Wembley mantle when they travel to Bournemouth In the 5th Round.
Carlisle manager Keith Curle, who were our N&R team for 3 rounds said : “It was a fantastic experience for our players. We got turned over by a fantastic team. A lot of praise has to go to everybody, hopefully we have done a lot of people proud.”
