Judging by the donations page, a lot of you have already been very generous towards Ian Kennett’s latest Walking with the Wounded adventure. But just in case you have missed it, I’ll let Ian explain himself..
Thank you all so much for your incredible generosity so far, including gift aid we are beyond the £3,500 mark and I’d love to break the magic £5k barrier.
If you are seeing this for the first time a brief re-cap …… In just 9 days time (yes 9 days!) I will be taking on the Grand to Grand Ultra, a 170-mile, seven day, ultra endurance race across the Grand Canyon, the first and only self-supported stage footrace in America.
– 6 stages over 7 days including one of 52 miles
– A total ascent over the six stages of 18,041ft (5,499m)
– Carrying all of my own kit and food
This is in aid of Walking with the Wounded http://www.walkingwiththewounded.org.uk a charity formed in 2010 to raise funds for the re-education and re-training of injured service personnel, helping those with physical and mental injuries get their lives back.
So a bit of heat and a few blisters are nothing in comparison to the challenges faced by our wounded.
I know we all receive lots of requests of this nature so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated by me and the charity, just £250 enables them to put another physically or mentally wounded veteran through a training course and set them on the way to changing their life.
Through my involvement with the charity I have had the privilege to meet some of the most courageous and inspiring people I have ever encountered.
Help me help them Please donate here – don’t forget the gift aid !
Thanks once again.
