Message from Ian Kennett:
Many thanks for your messages of support and generous donations.
I’m pleased to say that along with 7 other hardy souls supporting Walking with the Wounded I managed to complete the gruelling 170 miles from the Northern rim of the Grand Canyon to the Grand Staircase in Utah. It was probably the hardest 7 days of my life, through a mixture of stunning views and varying terrains, running through slot canyons, massive sand dunes and climbing some interesting rock formations. We had every extreme of weather including hailstones and flash flooding and the overworked medical team patched us up and sent us back out every day (the blisters are still healing!)
The most important thing of course is the money raised for Walking with the Wounded (www.walkingwiththewounded.org.uk) a charity formed in 2010 to raise funds for the re-education and re-training of injured service personnel, helping those with physical and mental injuries get their lives back.
The total stands at just around the £5,000 mark including gift aid for which I am immensely grateful, if you haven’t had time yet then the page is still open and you can donate here – don’t forget the gift aid !
P.S. I was thinking of hanging up the running shoes but I’ve got a ballot place in the London Marathon 2017 – no rest for the wicked !
