Nobby’s week 40 in review

Archives

IMG_1510The most exciting League in the world is over bar for a little kerscuffle for 4th place. Sky’s wonderful idea of having live games every night for a week backfiring as Chelsea secured the title, Spurs 2nd place and Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull all relegated.

Plenty of fantasy points in week 40 though as Spurs said a fond farewell to White Hart Lane as West Ham reminded them that a move to a new ground is not all it is cracked up to be. That lap of honour after having their arses handed to them on a plate by Liverpool, a tad embarrassing.

Also timely to remember that Arsenal left their ability to win the league title back at Highbury.

Paul Clement deserves lots of praise for saving Swansea, who when he took over were anchored to the bottom of the table with the PL’s worst defensive record.

Kudos as well to the unparalleled Big Sam. Hull were truly rubbish on Sunday though but Big Sam managed to pull together a talented Palace team assembled by Alan Pardew, who was not able to.

John Terry has said he may well retire after this season. Watching on other managers may feel the same after his shocking defending that gave Watford a goal, but JT leaves Chelsea as a legend no doubt.

Pep has said he would have been sacked in Germany and Spain after a very disappointing season and it will be interesting to see how he further moulds City in the summer. A big game tonight for them to secure a CL place with Arsene hot on their heels.
